Set It Right: Defining Serving Sizes in Your Recipes
Managing serving sizes isn’t just about accuracy — it’s about flexibility.
Here’s how to control serving sizes of recipes in Menutech:
🍽️ Option 1: Change the Quantity Inside the Recipe
You can update the serving size directly in the table of ingredients:
- When you change the number of servings, you’ll get two options:
- Recalculate ingredients to scale the recipe
- Don’t recalculate if you only want to adjust the serving label
This is ideal when adapting a recipe for smaller or larger groups during testing or production.
📄 Option 2: Export Recipe Sheets in Any Quantity
Want to print the recipe sheet for a specific number of servings without changing the saved recipe?
- Go to the recipe sheet export
- Set any custom serving quantity (e.g. 31 seatings)
- The recipe stays saved at its original base (e.g. 10 servings), but the export reflects your chosen number
Perfect for one-off events or daily adjustments.
📏 Note on Unit Display
Ingredient quantities automatically adjust units based on the output amount:
- Start with grams, and Menutech may switch to kilograms when the scaled total reaches a certain threshold
- Same applies to ml → l, or tsp → tbsp → cups for US units
